What education benefits programs are available to veterans?
In 2008, the Post-9/11 GI Bill® was signed into law, creating new education benefit programs for veterans, who served on active duty for 90 or more days after Sept 10, 2001. These benefits are based on the number of days served on active duty. Once the VA has received your application (VA Form 22-1990) they will determine your eligibility for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. If eligible, the VA will issue you a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). What do you get? The Post-9/11 GI Bill® offers benefits for veterans attending approved education and training programs, such as the Heavy Equipment Operator Truck Driver Level 5 training program offered by CIT. Benefit payments are based on the amount of creditable active-duty service you have since Sept. 10, 2001, but can include: * Up to 100% Tuition and Fee Coverage *A Monthly Living Stipend (Up to $2500 per month. Click here to learn more) *Up to $1000 a year for Books and Supplies *A One Time Relocation Allowance *The Option to Transfer Benefits to Family Members Fiil out your VON-APP here for Educational benefits! In addition to the GI Bill®, students may also be eligible to continue collecting unemployment insurance. Not a Post-9/11 veteran? There may be benefit programs for you! The VRAP program for education assistance provides students with a monthly living stipend (approximately $1473 per month), but does not cover tuition fees.
